Water penetrates the transition line first. Master the roof to wall flashing detail PEB. We dictate the exact waterproofing math for metal building stepped roof transitions. I am Feng (Peter). We consolidate wholesale architectural flashing trims from top OEM factories. Here are the absolute rules for transition flashing.
Parallel Transition Panel Waterproofing
Parallel transitions mean the roof slope runs parallel to the wall. Do not rely on single sealant lines. You must install a continuous L50x50x2.5 support angle. Drop the transition panel (0810311/0810312) into the roof corrugation. Lock it down with twin Panlastic butyl beads (027893). For a counter flashing brick wall metal roof application, never just caulk the surface. Cut a 15mm reglet straight into the masonry. Anchor the flashing inside. Pack it solid with polyurethane sealant (016688).
Perpendicular Metal Roof Wall Junction
Roof corrugations hitting the wall perpendicularly create massive gaps. You cannot fill these with liquid sealant. It will fail. You must mandate pre-molded EPDM foam closures. Use Part 753452 for standing seam profiles. Specify Part 0753025 for BRII trapezoidal panels.
The Thermal Expansion Clearance
Thermal movement destroys flashing. When executing a perpendicular transition, you must leave a ≥ 10 mm thermal expansion clearance beneath the counter flashing. If you pin the roof panel tightly against the flashing, thermal expansion will shear the fasteners instantly.
| Transition Type | Structural Support | Sealant / Closure | Standard Detail Drawing |
| Parallel (Metal Wall) | Support Angle L50x50x2.5 | Transition Panel + Twin Butyl Beads (027893) | 4000117 / 4000118 |
| Parallel (Masonry Wall) | Support Angle + Saw-Cut Reglet | Folded Flashing + Polyurethane Sealant (016688) | 4000119 / 4000214 |
| Perpendicular (Standing Seam) | Purlin Top Support Angle | EPDM Molded Closure (753452) + 10mm Gap | 4000125 / 4000126 |
| Perpendicular (Trapezoidal) | Purlin Support Angle | EPDM Molded Closure (0753025) + Flashing Panel | 4000215 / 4000216 |
