On the morning of August 10, 2026, a devastating Mw 7.4 earthquake struck the Chocó Department in western Colombia. The intense seismic waves caused catastrophic destruction across the region, claiming over 331 lives and severely damaging commercial infrastructure throughout Cali, Pereira, and Manizales. Colombia’s highly active tectonic environment—where the Nazca, Caribbean, and South American plates collide—demands strict, uncompromising adherence to the Norma Sismo Resistente (NSR-10). Commercial and industrial facilities built in the Chocó region face a brutal dual engineering challenge: massive seismic energy dissipation requirements combined with managing some of the highest annual tropical rainfall volumes recorded on the planet.

We supply high-performance Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings strictly certified under NSR-10 for Special Moment-Resisting Frames (DES). Built from premium high-tensile Q345B/ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel plates, our portal frame columns and tapered rafters are fabricated with optimized web-flange ratios. However, surviving the quake is only the first step in Chocó. The region’s torrential convective thunderstorms can overwhelm traditional cladding instantly. To permanently secure the building envelope, we mandate integrating Polyurethane (PU) Sandwich Panels for exterior walls.

The PU sandwich panel provides a seamless, highly rigid barrier against driving horizontal rain.
